Mary’s uncle’s face lit up when he saw his niece had turned into a pretty young lady in just a few 

years. 

5. 他看了那张纸条后很不高兴，以为她在取笑他。

 He was very unhappy after reading the note, as he thought that she was making fun of him.

1. I blamed my grandma for keeping the bad news from me.

we could do is to wait.

4. The man following her made her uneasy and she couldn’t help quickening her steps.

跟在她身后的人让她心神不安，她不由得加快了脚步。  

5. What makes this young couple proud is that their child could recite poems from memory at the age of three.

让这对年轻夫妇引以为荣的是他们的孩子3岁就能背诗了。
